What is Free Admission with EBT Program?

"Texas EBT Card"

If you currently have a Texas Food Stamps EBT card, you are eligible for free or discounted admission to over 600 museums nationwide.

This program is sponsored by Museums for All, and includes access to all types of museums — including art, history, natural history/anthropology, and general museums, children’s museums, science centers, planetariums, nature centers, historic houses/sites, zoos, aquariums, botanical gardens, and arboretums.

Although the program is targeted at Food Stamps EBT Cardholders, many sites allow EBT cards from other programs, including:

  • WIC EBT Card
  • EBT Card from TANF
  • EBT Card from General Cash Assistance

Participating museums provide reduced admission, ranging from free to $3.00, to visitors presenting their EBT card.

The museums listed below all offer individual admission fees ranging from FREE to $3.00 to individuals and families who have a Texas EBT Card, and a valid form of photo ID.

This reduced rate is available during all normal operating hours to up to four individuals per EBT card.

Here are the most frequently asked questions about the Free admission with the Texas EBT  Card program and Texas EBT Discounts.

What fast food places accept EBT in Texas?

The Restaurant Meals Program (RMP) allows SNAP recipients who are 60 years of age or older, disabled, or homeless to use their EBT benefits to purchase lower-cost prepared meals at approved participating restaurants in certain counties.

However, You can only use an EBT card at approved restaurants in states that participate in the Restaurant Meals Program.

As of August 2021, these are the states that are participating in the RMP:

  • Arizona
  • California
  • Illinois
  • Maryland
  • Michigan
  • Rhode Island

Unfortunately, Texas is not currently participating in the RMP program, therefore you cannot use your Texas EBT card to purchase food at restaurants.

What Grocery Stores Accept Texas EBT for Delivery?

As of August 2021, you can use your Texas EBT card to make purchases online for pick-up and/or Delivery at the following grocery stores:

  • ALDI
  • Amazon
  • Brookshire’s Food and Pharmacy
  • FRESH by Brookshire’s
  • H-E-B
  • Spring Market
  • Super 1 Foods
  • Walmart

Is P-EBT in Texas Extended for 2021?

Yes! As part of the American Rescue Plan, signed into law on March 11, 2021, by President Biden, children that are enrolled in the National School Lunch Program or are under 6 years of age and residing in a SNAP household will receive P-EBT over the summer as well.

As a result, the Texas Health and Human Services Commission announced that Texas has been approved by the U.S. Department of Agriculture to continue the Pandemic Electronic Benefits Transfer (P-EBT) food assistance program through Summer 2021.

The P-EBT program helps families with eligible children whose access to free or reduced-price meals at school or other food assistance has been impacted by COVID-19.

The summer P-EBT is an extension of benefits for the 2020-2021 school year.
